Sometimes, researching, studying and learning the "facts" are just not enough! Sometimes the facts simply do not tell us all we need to know. Facts, which are really just historical data, cannot always accurately predict what will happen, especially when considering something as ambiguous as human behavior. Sometimes a decision comes down to common sense, good judgment, and even chance. Sometimes that human factor, heart, is what is required to make the right decision.
Otherwise, we could just employ computers or robots to make all the important decisions for us. Sometimes, that which is "right" is not that which is supported by "just the facts"!

Simple rule for political voting is to not vote for incumbents as they got us into the mess we are in and do not vote for lawyers as they are generally adept at twisting and distorting the truth. A law degree is not the sign of a good politician (if one truly exist).
