I have wondered numerous times what kind of ignorance it would take to vote for Obama. The posts on your website confirm some of my worst fears. Why don't all the socialists move to a socialist nation? This is the United States of America. We are a democratic republic.

I was born into a socialized nation, just about the center of it. The top tax rate was 95%, and the Socialized Republican President was out to create a socialized highway system.

The antisocial extremists (who were mostly Southern Democrats then) fought it tooth and nail, refused to build it in their states, and set their states back years.

Over the years the country has become increasingly unsocialized till we are all The South now. Perhaps we can eventually socialize the country back to where it was when I was born, but it will take just about as long.

I work for a union and plumbers make a LOT more than $20K/$25K a year. They make more that teachers in elementary school. Check your facts and re-write your story.

What is with this nations paranoid fear of socialism? Soccermom doesn't want Joe to buy you a latte, and if the government makes him that's socialism and is totally un-american and we should get the hell out of the country if we agree with that. But do you realise that Joe is made (by the government) to pay for your children's education, for your streets to be patroled by police and for firemen to come to your house in case of a fire. That's right, the public education system and a ton of other public services are funded by tax payers so everyone can get the same level of care(in other words they are SOCIALIST SYSTEMS), this means that hard working types likes Joe are FORCED BY THE GOVERNMENT to pay more to make sure the kids of lazy parents can have a sound education.

But this is totally unamerican right? and McCain should abolish these horrible communist systems. Instead we should have a fully capitalist system, where if you can't afford to pay for fireman then your house should just burn down, and your kids should go without education and the ambulance should prioritise who they take to the hospital first based on how much you can pay... because that's what America is all about right? BTW soccermom do your kids attend a public school? Cause maybe you should buy Joe a latte to thank him for that.

Why would Joe bust his hump expanding his business, giving up time with his family, his blood sweat and tears, so that he has to buy you a latte? If he wants to buy you one out of the goodness of his heart, that's great, but for the government to hold a gun to his head and force him to is pure socialism. What all you liberals forget is that the government's function is to protect our rights...not to play Robin Hood, not to take on your personal responsibility of providing you with a job, health care, and whatever else you whine about. If you think Obama can spend your money better than you can, give it all to him...you'll probably end up down the same road as some of his biggest contributors, Fannie and Freddie.

If Joe's profit is 278K a year, his monthly net income is almost 17K and the tax he would have to pay more a year with Obama's plan is short of $800 -- or $2.30/day which is about the cost of a latte. I think Joe can afford sharing a latte with a friend or customer if he is making this kind of money!

If Joe invests 10K a month of his net of 17K, he can retire at age 45 with 2 million in the bank -- or wait until he is 65 with 12 million in the bank.

I would say, with or without the $800/year in increased taxes, Joe is the American Dream.

What I have heard is that Joe's potential business is making more like 130K a year in revenue--not net profit and I assume he has expenses. In any event--Joe the Plumber will get to keep more with senator Obama's tax cuts than he would under McCain.

Even if his revenue was 278K, this would be true, because of other tax cuts and the deductions he can make.

Joe is misinformed and we are being mislead, and the lack of critical journalism is sad.

This is exactly what our country DOESN'T need. Um, last I checked, your God doesn't do private consultations. (Maybe in YOUR head he does, but that's a whole different issue...) If this war is "God's plan", doesn't that confirm that he needs better project management skills? Oh, or maybe those prayers just aren't working to help those poor boys over there?

For a bible-thumper, I'm a little surprised by your headline: "... God May Be Watching." May be watching? MAY be?!? I figured you'd be absolutely, without any doubt whatsoever, certain that God IS watching. I thought that when you are on a mission from God, you can't blink... according to Sarah.

Or is that line a pathetically veiled threat that God's gonna smite all those who are not conservative christians?
